Manchester Drum Centre takes the focus this month to tell us about its brand new showroom in Trafford Park
Originally trading as The Drum Centre, we first opened our doors in a tiny shop in November 1986. The last 29 years have seen us evolve into one of the foremost drum specialists in the UK. After three moves over this time, Manchester Drum Centre is now in a modern showroom in Trafford Park, which boasts one of the best displays of drum porn you’re likely to see.
Product specialists in?
If you bang it with a stick or your hand to make music, then we either stock it or can get hold of it for you.
Service or repair centres?
You bet! We offer anything from a cleaning service for anyone who hasn’t got the time, through to tuning and repairs of drums and hardware.
Soundproof booth/room for visitors to try before they buy?
Of course. You wouldn’t want to buy a cymbal or drum without trying it – and we don’t expect you to.
Are there any particular lines that are exclusive to Manchester Drum Centre?
No, we would rather work with the established big brands in the industry who can give us the support that’s needed. Customer satisfaction is paramount and unfortunately we’ve found from past experience that going it alone can lead to headaches when things go wrong.
Orders over £100 qualify for free mainland UK delivery, provided that it’s not a price-match deal.
Any clinics coming up?
As we go to press we’re awaiting confirmation from some big name players. We’re committed to doing both large and small clinics and always have been. Our new store with its mezzanine gallery is ideal for the more ‘intimate’ clinics and workshops where everybody has a great view.
Any tutorial facilities or workshops for learners?
We have two very experienced in-house tutors who can take absolute beginners and turn them into a ‘future pro drummer’. We didn’t just use that phrase by accident – there’s a website by that name coming next year.
Any new models available?
We endeavour to be one of the first stores in the UK to have new products available to try and buy. Our close personal and working relationship with suppliers often means we are at the front of the queue when a brand new line is in short supply.
Do you have gear for hire?
We work closely with one of the country’s major tour suppliers and would recommend all our customers to use them for any hire needs – they have the resources and dedicated staff to be able to do the job properly.
Storage and protection solutions for kit…
We stock and sell a lot of Hardcase and Ahead Armor cases, plus some great value brands. We can give help and advice on how to look after your gear on the road or in storage.
Is there a newsletter facility customers can subscribe to?
We regularly post on Facebook and Twitter. You can also sign up to our mailshot via the website www.manchesterdrum.com, but don’t expect to be bombarded with stuff – we only send emails out when we have some great news for you.
